Nicki Minaj is making moves... business moves that is.
Despite sparking split rumors with her recent name changes on social media — Nicki changed her name from “Mrs. Petty" to “Barbie” and “YIKES” on Instagram and Twitter, respectively, which caused some to speculate that there was trouble in paradise — a source told Page Six that Nicki and her husband, Kenneth Petty, are doing just fine.
“Nicki Minaj is still with her man,” said the insider. “It’s just business as usual for her highness as she prepares to release new music.”
Nicki's name change came weeks after Wendy Williams unleashed her unfiltered thoughts about Kenneth — who had been arrested for not registering as a sex offender in California around that time — and the legendary rapper's decision to marry him.
"Let me tell you something Nicki," the talk show host began. "You should've never married him because now you've ruined everything about what your brand could be."
"Again, you are never going to stand a chance when you are with a man who pulls a knife at rape point. A registered sex offender, you are never going to stand a chance with the public," Wendy added. "There's only one thing worse than touching children and pulling knives and that's murder. By the way, he did go to jail for manslaughter. Oh, I think I just did the story. No, get to digging. There's more on it. Everybody get to digging. Get to digging."
Last month, Kenneth registered as a sex offender in the state of California after he was arrested for failing to do so when he moved he first moved to the state.
Kenneth's sex offender status stems from April 1995 when he was convicted of first-degree attempted rape. He reportedly used a sharp object when he tried to force his female victim to have sexual intercourse. Kenneth was 16 at the time and so was the victim. He served nearly four years in prison for the crime.
After being released, Kenneth was arrested again; this time for first-degree manslaughter. He went on to serve another seven years in prison before being released in 2013.
