Hot Mic Catches Airline Pilot Going On Profane Rant Against Bay Area

An airline pilot at San Jose Airport was caught on a hot mic making a series of profane remarks against the people who live in the Bay Area. Audio of the pilot's comments was flagged by Twitter user @lostpckt, according to travel site One Mile at a Time.

In a 40-minute clip of the audio feed, which is archived online at Live ATC, the pilot can be heard making several expletive-laden comments.

"F*** this place, g*ddamn liberal f****."

"F****** weirdos, probably driving around in f****** Hyundais, f****** roads and s*** that go slow as f***."

"You don't have balls unless you're f****** rolling coal man, g*ddamnit."

According to SFGate, the pilot works for Southwest Airlines. The airline said they are handling the matter internally.

"Our corporate Culture is built on a tenet of treating others with concern and dignity and the comments are inconsistent with the professional behavior and overall respect that we require from our Employees," a spokesman for the airline said in a statement. "This situation was an isolated incident involving a single Employee and not representative of the nearly 60,000 hardworking, respectful People of Southwest Airlines."

This isn't the first time a Southwest pilot has been caught making inappropriate comments. In 2011, the airline suspended a pilot who inadvertently broadcasted a profane rant about the flight attendants over the radio frequency used by air traffic controllers.
