Duane "Keefe D" Davis is facing a new charge after he got into a fight with a fellow inmate in jail.
According to a report TMZ published on Tuesday, January 28, Davis, who prosecutors believe is responsible for 2Pac's death, recently fought with another man inside Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. In screenshots from footage the outlet obtained, you can see Davis and the inmate participate in "mutual combat by grappling and throwing closed fist strikes." The fight escalated when Davis allegedly put the inmate in a headlock. The two were split up after a corrections officer used pepper spray on them.
An officer reportedly told the outlet Keefe D said he only defended himself against his assailant. In addition to his previous offenses, Davis was also charged with battery by a prisoner. He's been behind bars since he was arrested in 2023 in connection to the late Tupac Shakur's death. His arrest was the first major break in the unsolved murder case. The investigation was cold for years before detectives began looking into Davis.
Prosecutors allege Davis helped facilitate the drive-by shooting that ended the "California Love" rapper's life in 1996. They cited his own words in interviews and a book he wrote in which he described what happened on the night in question. The 61-year-old pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and claimed his previous version of events was strictly for entertainment purposes. Davis has been awaiting trial behind bars since he was previously denied bail. His trial is set to begin in March.
