Celebrities and fans are paying tribute to Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone, who was killed in a car crash on Saturday (March 1).

According to the Associated Press, Stone, 63, was riding in a van from Alabama to Atlanta at roughly 4 a.m. when the vehicle “flipped over and was subsequently hit by a big rig,” the singer’s longtime manager Walter Millsap III said in a statement.

The Alabama Highway Patrol confirmed that a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van turned over on Interstate 56 before being hit by a Freightliner Cascadia truck driven by a 33-year-old man from Texas.

All passengers in the van survived the crash except Stone. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Never in a million years did we ever expect to get this horrible news,” Stone’s children, Diamond and Michael Archer, said in a statement. “We are still trying to process and are completely heartbroken.”

Several celebrities mourned the loss of the “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” singer and member of the all-female hip-hop trio The Sequence, sharing tribute posts in her honor.

"So heartbreaking. Rest well, soul sister. #AngieStone,” Bernice King wrote on X.

"Safe travels Angie Stone,” Tyler the Creator tweeted.

"RIP Angie Stone. founding member of early Sugarhill Records Hip-Hop group The Sequence, later a pioneer in the Neo-Soul movement in the late 90's & early 00's. An essential part of Hip-Hop and R&B history,” DJ Short shared on X.

Loni Love wrote in her tribute post on X: “In 2021 I had the honor of hosting #blackmusichonors, celebrating the incredible Angie Stone, my Sis. She was an amazing talent and an even cooler person. I'm grateful for that night. I'll cherish our conversations, Angie. Rest in peace. Condolences to her family.”

“Queen! Angie. I'm devastated 💔 Sending prayers and love to your family, children, and the millions who loved you. You will forever be in our hearts 🙏🏿🕊️Fly high my Soul Sista 👑🤍💐♾️,” Anthony Hamilton posted on Instagram.
