Netflix announced the return of its popular Quarterback docuseries with three big names set to be featured.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff were revealed as this year's cast in a video shared on the streaming service's social media accounts Wednesday (March 19). The docuseries features an in-depth look at each player's on and off the field journeys during the previous NFL season.
Quarterback, which debuted in 2023, switched to Receiver in 2024, focusing on Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, then-San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, then-Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams and San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle.
Netflix jokingly swerved viewers with a fake announcement that this year's show would be Mascot, focusing on NFL teams' mascots, before Burrow, Cousins and Goff were revealed as the cast for the returning Quarterback format.
The 2024 NFL season was eventful for all three of the quarterbacks featured.
Burrow led the NFL in passing yards (4,918), touchdowns (43), passing yards per game (289.3), completions (460) and passing attempts (652), while nearly leading the Bengals to a playoff berth despite 4-8 start and defensive struggles. The former No. 1 overall pick was also the victim of a home invasions that took place during his Monday Night Football road win against the Dallas Cowboys in December.
Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million deal to join the Falcons last offseason after spending the past six seasons before the team used its first-round pick on former University of Washington quarterback Michael Penix, who he was eventually benched for late in the season. The four-time Pro Bowler threw for 3,508 yards, 18 touchdowns and a league-worst 16 interceptions on 303 of 453 passing while leading Atlanta to a 7-7 record as a starter.
Goff threw for 4,629 yards, 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 390 of 539 passing, while leading the Lions to an NFC-best 15-2 record and second consecutive playoff berth. The former No. 1 overall pick also married longtime girlfriend and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Christen Harper last June.
