T.I.: Pays it Forward by helping 23 Non-Violent Offenders Come Home.

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Tip knows first-hand how unjust the justice system can be.
  • The money is likely pocket change to guys like Tip, but it's obviously a life-changing gift for the families who benefit.
  • It'd be great to see something like this become the next viral social media challenge.

The Atlanta rapper worked with the New Birth Missionary Baptist church in Georgia to secure the freedom of a group of “mostly first-time” offenders. Faith leaders originally aimed to raise $40,000 but wound up taking in a total of $120,000, thanks to generous donors like T.I. and Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta’s Scrapp Deleon. In total, seven women and 16 men were bailed out in time to spend the holiday with friends and family. The initiative will use any leftover funds raised to start college savings accounts for the children of the folks who were recently bailed out.
